An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Tax Manager to join a well-established finance team based in Milton Keynes. The role offers the chance to oversee all aspects of UK, Republic of Ireland, European, and corporate tax compliance, advice, and planning activities across multiple entities.
Responsibilities
- Manage and review UK and international corporation tax returns and computations, ensuring timely and accurate submission to HMRC and relevant international tax authorities.
- Lead the year‑end tax reporting process under UK GAAP, local accounting standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), providing comprehensive oversight throughout.
- Provide expert tax advisory support on business projects including acquisitions, restructurings, and financing arrangements to optimise outcomes for the organisation.
- Oversee VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, R&D claims, Patent Box applications, P11Ds, and PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs), maintaining full compliance with all indirect tax obligations.
- Liaise effectively with HMRC during audits, enquiries, and correspondence to ensure positive resolutions and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Utilise existing tax policies and processes to identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies that enhance efficiency across the finance function.
- Work closely with external tax advisors, auditors, and internal legal counsel to ensure robust compliance and informed decision‑making on complex matters.
- Monitor changes in UK and international tax legislation; assess their impact on the business; provide actionable advice for required actions and risk mitigation.
- Support transfer pricing documentation requirements alongside cross‑border tax compliance activities for diverse geographical locations.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Tax team based in the United States to complete tax returns, provide audit support, and implement new processes as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Substantial experience in corporate taxation within large organisations or multinational environments, with a proven track record navigating complex regulatory frameworks domestically (UK) and internationally (ROI, EU, US exposure).
- Deep familiarity with technical aspects such as transfer pricing documentation, indirect taxes (VAT/PAYE), and R&D/Patent Box claims.
- Successful collaboration with external advisors and auditors during high‑stakes audits or project implementations.
- Strong ability to interpret legislative changes quickly and translate them into practical recommendations that safeguard organisational interests.
- Excellent interpersonal skills fostering productive relationships across departments and meticulous attention to detail ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for thorough financial data analysis.
- Additional exposure to ASC 740 or similar systems is an advantage but not required.
