An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Materials Planner to join a fast-paced and growing FMCG business. Operating within a high-volume manufacturing environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and packaging to support production plans and customer demand.
Working closely with suppliers, procurement, production, warehouse and planning teams, you will be responsible for managing stock levels, maintaining supply continuity and driving improvements across the materials planning process. This role would suit an organised and analytical supply chain professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage material requirements plans to support production schedules and customer demand. Place purchase orders and manage supplier schedules to ensure on-time delivery of materials. Monitor inventory levels and optimise stock holdings to balance availability with working capital targets. Track supplier performance, escalating potential shortages or delays where necessary. Work closely with production planning teams to align material availability with manufacturing requirements. Analyse demand forecasts and consumption trends to identify potential risks and opportunities. Manage material master data and planning parameters within the ERP system. Lead or support inventory reviews, stock counts and root cause analysis of material discrepancies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and supply chain performance. Produce and communicate key planning and inventory reports to stakeholders.
About You
Previous experience in a Materials Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Planning or Supply Chain role. Experience working within an FMCG, food manufacturing, consumer goods, pharmaceutical or high-volume manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems. Excellent analytical and numerical skills with confidence using Excel. Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-moving operational environment. A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
