I am working with a leading global financial institution, seeking a Vice President to join its market risk management function, focused on commodities trading activity. This position offers the opportunity to work within a high-calibre risk team covering energy, metals, and derivatives portfolios, providing independent oversight and analytical support to trading and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently oversee commodities market risk exposure across physical and derivative portfolios.
- Monitor, analyse, and report daily risk measures, including P&L attribution, VaR, scenario analysis, and limits.
- Provide technical risk insights and clear commentary to trading, risk committees, and senior management.
- Develop and enhance risk frameworks, stress testing, and analytical tools (using Python, SQL, VBA, or similar).
- Review and challenge front-office pricing, trading strategy, and risk breaches as a second line of defence.
- Participate in policy, regulatory change initiatives, and continuous process improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product control, valuation, model validation, and IT.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commodities market risk, ideally with global trading or investment bank exposure.
- Strong product knowledge of commodity markets and associated derivatives pricing concepts.
- Proven analytical capability, including experience with risk metrics, valuation adjustments, and regulatory standards (FRTB/Basel III).
- Technical proficiency with risk systems, data automation, and programming (Python, SQL, VBA).
- Degree in a quantitative field; professional risk qualifications (FRM, PRM) advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts and provide risk partnership to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
