A highly respected London-based insurance organisation is seeking a Legal Counsel with at insurance specific post-qualification experience to join their dedicated Legal Team. What you\’ll do:As Legal Counsel based in London, you will become an integral part of a well-established Legal Team committed to supporting every facet of the organisation\’s operations.
Provide comprehensive legal assistance across all areas of the business, supporting both the Legal Team and other departments with clear, commercially focused advice.
Advise senior management on new business initiatives, including reviewing commercial contracts and company matters to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
Support underwriting teams by reviewing policy wordings, assisting with product development, and offering guidance on regulatory requirements.
Assist claims handlers with complex claims queries, dispute resolution processes, and management of contentious issues in a timely manner.
Contribute to corporate transactions by preparing documentation, conducting due diligence, and advising on legal implications for the organisation.
Offer support on compliance matters, employment law issues, tax considerations, company secretarial duties, and customer complaint handling.
What you bring:The ideal candidate for the Legal Counsel position will bring proven experience as a qualified solicitor operating within either private practice or an in-house environment. Your background should demonstrate experience within insurance but our client are open to considering candidates who have been more niche in their work and keen to take on a broader role. I.e. although this role will be largely focused on commercial work, the client will consider candidates from a disputes background.
Proven ability to provide commercially minded legal advice across multiple business areas including senior management, underwriting teams, and claims handlers.
Experience advising on commercial contracts, company law matters, product development initiatives, policy wordings review, and dispute resolution processes.
Strong understanding of compliance requirements relevant to insurance or financial services sectors; familiarity with employment law and tax issues is advantageous.
