We are seeking a driven Street Works Manager to lead the end to end delivery and compliance of street works activities across multiple contracts. This is a senior role, with full ownership of permitting, local authority relationship, traffic management and team management. The role would suit someone who understands street works beyond permits, and a confident communicator who enjoys managing people, contractors and risk, whilst always keeping the programmes moving safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own NRSWA compliance across all projects, including permits, variations, extensions, defects.
  • Lead and manage street works teams, including permit coordinators, civils supervisors, subcontractors, and traffic management providers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for local authorities and highways departments, attending performance reviews, escalation meetings, and defect challenges.
  • Oversee traffic management planning and approvals, ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with agreed methods.
  • Coordinate civils delivery on site, allocating crews, managing sequencing, and resolving live operational issues.
  • Monitor compliance performance, identify risk trends, and implement improvements to reduce fines, defects, and delays.
  • Maintain oversight of permit costs, reinstatement costs, and Section 74 exposure, working closely with commercial and operational teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of NRSWA legislation, permitting processes, and local authority requirements.
  • Proven experience managing civils teams, subcontractors, and high-volume programmes.
