Collaborate closely with product, legal, marketing, and commercial teams to embed compliance at every stage of innovation and growth.
What you’ll do:
- As Head of Compliance - Insurance Technology, you will be entrusted with shaping the regulatory landscape for a cutting-edge digital insurance platform entering the UK market.
- Your day-to-day activities will involve designing policies that not only meet but anticipate FCA requirements; leading licensing efforts; interpreting complex regulatory updates; overseeing AML/KYC/data privacy controls; conducting risk assessments; establishing monitoring systems; supporting audits; ensuring products are designed ethically; managing complaints processes; and delivering impactful training sessions.
- Success in this role means embedding compliance into every facet of the business while enabling innovation-your ability to collaborate across departments will ensure new products launch smoothly without compromising on integrity or consumer trust.
- You will be instrumental in creating an environment where compliance is seen as an enabler of growth rather than an obstacle.
- Design and maintain comprehensive compliance frameworks that align with FCA requirements, ensuring all aspects of the business operate within regulatory expectations.
- Lead all aspects of regulatory readiness including licensing processes, ongoing supervision, and acting as the primary contact for interactions with the FCA and other relevant bodies.
- Interpret evolving regulatory changes and provide clear guidance to senior leadership on their implications for business strategy and operations.
- Build and oversee Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), data privacy, consumer duty, and distribution controls to safeguard both the organisation and its customers.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments across business units, implementing effective remediation plans where necessary to address identified gaps or vulnerabilities.
- Establish robust compliance monitoring, testing, and reporting frameworks that support continuous improvement and transparency across all functions.
- Support internal audits and ongoing compliance reviews by preparing documentation, facilitating communication with auditors, and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
- Ensure that product design, marketing materials, pricing strategies, and distribution channels adhere strictly to UK regulations for fairness and transparency.
- Implement complaint handling frameworks that meet or exceed UK standards for consumer protection, ensuring swift resolution of issues raised by customers.
- Deliver engaging compliance training across teams to foster a culture of responsibility and awareness throughout the organisation.
What you bring:
- To excel as Head of Compliance - Insurance Technology, your background should demonstrate significant experience within regulated financial services environments-ideally spanning both traditional insurance settings and innovative technology-driven platforms.
- Your understanding of FCA regulations must be comprehensive enough to guide strategic decisions while remaining approachable when advising colleagues from non-compliance backgrounds.
- You bring proven expertise in developing scalable frameworks that adapt as organisations grow quickly.
- Your interpersonal skills allow you to build rapport with regulators while also nurturing cross-functional relationships internally.
- A history of successfully implementing AML/KYC/data privacy controls shows your commitment to safeguarding consumers.
- Experience conducting risk assessments ensures you can identify vulnerabilities before they become issues.
- If you have worked in startups or high-growth companies-or possess additional knowledge around GDPR/AML/sanctions/cross-border regulation-you will find these experiences particularly valuable here.
- Above all else, your passion for responsible innovation combined with your attention to detail makes you an ideal fit for this influential position.
- At least eight years’ experience in compliance, risk management or regulatory roles within financial services, insurance, insurtech or fintech sectors is essential for this position.
- A minimum of one year’s direct experience within the insurance industry is required to ensure familiarity with sector-specific challenges.
- Deep knowledge of FCA regulations-including Consumer Duty-and their practical application within digital platforms or insurance distribution models is vital.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable compliance programmes from early-stage environments through periods of rapid organisational growth is highly valued.
- Experience supporting digital platforms or technology-driven insurance solutions will enable you to navigate unique regulatory considerations effectively.
- Proven track record in building AML/KYC/data privacy controls that protect both consumers and organisational interests is important for this role.
- Clear communication skills are needed for engaging regulators as well as senior stakeholders internally across multiple disciplines.
