I'm working exclusively with a highly regarded manufacturer who are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their plant in Blackburn on a double days shift pattern. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically or mechanically biased engineer with strong multi-skilled capability to join a fast-paced production environment where reliability, continuous improvement, and teamwork are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reactive Maintenance & Fault Finding
    • Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise production disruption
    • Diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systems
    • Implement effective, long-term fixes to prevent repeat issues
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
    • Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks in line with the PPM system
    • Proactively identify improvements to maintenance plans and asset reliability
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Support initiatives such as TPM, Lean, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Analyse recurring faults and production losses
    • Contribute to improvements in machine performance, efficiency, and output
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Conduct risk assessments before carrying out work
    • Ensure all maintenance is completed safely and equipment is returned in a safe condition
    • Support audits, compliance activities, and close-out of actions
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and shift reports accurately
    • Ensure clear handovers between shifts
    • Work closely with production and engineering teams
  • Stores & Asset Management
    • Manage spare parts usage and ensure correct booking procedures
    • Report stock issues and support inventory control

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • Apprentice-trained (desirable)
    • HNC/HND (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience
    • Proven experience within a manufacturing or factory environment
    • Strong multi-skilled knowledge across electrical and mechanical systems
    • Experience working in a fast-paced production setting
  • Skills
    • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Good communication and team collaboration skills
