An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fund Controller specialising in Private Credit to join a thriving Private Investment Fund Finance team in London. This role is perfect for someone who is eager to immerse themselves in the rapidly expanding global private finance and infrastructure debt sector, where fund strategies are not only performing exceptionally well but also offer significant opportunities for professional growth and learning.

You will be at the heart of fund operations, working closely with portfolio management and investment teams, while taking ownership of a diverse group of co‑mingled funds and segregated mandates. The position offers a highly collaborative environment, where your ability to build strong relationships with third‑party administrators and internal stakeholders will be key to ensuring seamless fund operations.

Enjoy a highly visible role overseeing multiple private credit funds and mandates, collaborating directly with investment professionals and service providers on a daily basis. Benefit from hands‑on experience with complex fund structures, including multi‑currency share classes, capital calls, distributions, and performance metrics calculations.

What you’ll do

As a Fund Controller based in London, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of private credit funds through meticulous oversight of financial processes. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will involve close interaction with both internal teams, such as portfolio managers, and external partners like third‑party administrators. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards across all aspects of fund administration: from cash flow monitoring to capital call management; from preparing detailed investor reports to supporting regulatory compliance initiatives. Success in this position requires you to proactively resolve queries from stakeholders while continuously seeking ways to enhance existing oversight models. Your attention to detail combined with your ability to see the bigger picture will enable you to deliver timely client‑facing outputs that meet rigorous industry standards.

  • Oversee the operational activities of several co‑mingled funds and segregated mandates by managing monthly and quarterly processes, controls, and deliverables in collaboration with third‑party administrators.
  • Maintain robust technical oversight of fund legal documents, financial accounting matters, and ensure all fund operations are documented clearly and accurately for audit purposes.
  • Monitor daily cash forecasting activities, track investment transactions, manage liquidity requirements, and oversee all related fund expenses to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Lead the entire capital call and distribution process by reviewing schedules and notices prepared by third‑party administrators to guarantee accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage credit and leverage facility operations including drawdowns, repayments, payment processing, and covenant reporting to support effective fund financing strategies.
  • Supervise the preparation of quarterly NAV reporting packages along with supporting schedules from third‑party administrators to ensure data integrity across all reports.
  • Review quarterly allocation files, capital statements, financial statements, management fee calculations, performance fee calculations, IRRs, investment multiples at both fund and asset level.
  • Produce comprehensive investor reporting packages such as investment manager’s reports, portfolio details reports, and various ad‑hoc reports tailored to client needs.
  • Assist the investment team during deal funding processes by ensuring timely execution of funding requirements for new investments or follow‑on commitments.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts by providing accurate data for AIFMD, Solvency II, external audits, and other regulatory submissions as required.

What you bring

To thrive as a Fund Controller you will bring proven experience from roles involving closed‑end funds, ideally within private credit or infrastructure debt settings, where your technical expertise has been honed through direct involvement in fund accounting or administration. Your background should include advanced proficiency with multi‑currency portfolios as well as practical exposure to hedging strategies and new fund launches. You are adept at building positive relationships with both internal colleagues and external service providers; your interpersonal skills foster trust while your analytical mindset ensures accuracy across all deliverables. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as AIFMD or Solvency II is advantageous. Above all else your commitment to continuous improvement, both personally through learning opportunities and professionally via process enhancements, will make you an invaluable member of the team.

A university degree (2:1 or equivalent) alongside ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience ideally gained at a top‑10 accountancy firm provides a solid foundation for this role. Demonstrable experience working with closed‑end funds within fund management, accounting, administration or audit environments is highly desirable for success in this position. Expertise in private credit or infrastructure debt sectors will set you apart as an ideal candidate ready to tackle complex fund structures. Extensive knowledge of multi‑currency equalisation processes as well as hedging strategies is crucial for managing diverse portfolios effectively. Proficiency in launching new funds coupled with hands‑on experience managing third‑party administrator relationships ensures seamless operational delivery. Advanced skills in Excel are essential; familiarity with Power BI tools for data analysis and visualisation will help you excel in producing insightful reports. Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent communication skills allow you to explain complex financial concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. A proactive approach combined with the ability to work independently while remaining keen to learn new concepts is vital for ongoing professional development. Meticulous attention to detail balanced by an understanding of broader business objectives enables you to maintain high‑quality outputs under tight deadlines.
