Credit Controller Salary: £35,000 plus commission Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire Robert Walters is partnering with an established organisation based in Bedford, Bedfordshire, who are looking to recruit a Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys the customer-facing side of credit control, as the role will be heavily focused on telephone-based debt collection, building customer relationships and driving timely payments. The business is keen to embrace AI and automation, with a focus on streamlining processes and reducing manual administration. They're looking for someone who is tech-savvy, proactive and interested in finding smarter ways of working. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities:
Proactively contact customers by phone and email to chase outstanding debt. Build strong customer relationships and resolve payment queries. Reduce debtor days and overdue balances. Agree payment plans and follow up on commitments. Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and potential risks. Liaise with internal teams, insurers and solicitors where required. Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and more efficient ways of working.
About you:
Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable. Confident communicator who enjoys speaking with customers and negotiating payments. Proactive, organised and commercially minded. Tech-savvy, with an interest in AI, automation and process improvement. Experience with Excel and accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar. Able to work independently and take ownership of customer accounts. What's on offer? £35,000 salary plus commission. Hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
