Our client, a well-established and growing global manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Export Manager to oversee and optimise international shipping and compliance processes. Operating in a highly regulated, export-controlled environment, this role is critical in ensuring the efficient, compliant movement of goods across international markets while supporting continued global growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Export Operations
    • Manage end-to-end export processes across multiple international markets
    • Ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders in line with delivery requirements
    • Oversee shipping activities across air, sea, and road freight
  • Compliance & Regulatory
    • Ensure adherence to all relevant export regulations, customs legislation, and international trade requirements
    • Manage export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and export declarations
    • Oversee export licensing and maintain accurate compliance records
    • Conduct sanctions screening and ensure compliance with restricted party regulations where required
  • Logistics & Freight Management
    • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers
    • Monitor and optimise transport costs, lead times, and service levels
    • Resolve shipping, customs, and clearance issues to minimise delays
  • Internal Collaboration
    • Work closely with production, planning, procurement, and customer-facing teams to align export activity with business needs
    • Provide guidance and support on export requirements across the organisation
    • Support customer expectations in relation to international delivery
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve export processes, compliance, and efficiency
    • Support the use and development of ERP/MRP systems for tracking export activity
    • Stay up to date with changes in export legislation and implement updates where required
  • Team Leadership (if applicable)
    • Lead, mentor, and develop export or logistics team members
    • Promote best practice in export compliance and operational performance

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in an export, logistics, or international trade role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Export compliance and customs procedures
    • International shipping documentation
    • Incoterms and commodity codes
  • Experience managing freight forwarders and international logistics providers
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
