What you'll do
As Financial Accountant based in Manchester, you will play an important role within the finance function, supporting a range of financial accounting, control and compliance activities. You will work closely with senior finance leaders and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring financial information is accurate, controls remain effective and key deadlines are met. Support the delivery of accurate financial information to the wider business through dependable reporting processes. Monitor key financial and regulatory deadlines relating to tax, compliance and governance. Support banking operations, including credit card administration, reviewing reconciliations and payment runs, and monitoring relevant banking covenants. Assess the effectiveness of financial controls, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing enhancements. Support month-end processes, including intercompany transactions, payroll accounting, fixed asset register maintenance and annual audit preparation. Support financial accounting across the organisation's property portfolio. Prepare and submit data required to support company insurance policies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, efficiency and resilience across the business. Build strong relationships with colleagues across departments, providing support on finance queries and helping to resolve issues effectively. Support wider finance projects and provide assistance to senior members of the finance team where required.
What you bring
The ideal candidate for Financial Accountant will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with strong technical accounting skills and a good understanding of financial controls and reporting. Qualified accountant status (ACA or ACCA) is essential. Intermediate or advanced Excel skills are required. Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with stakeholders at different levels. A proactive approach, with the ability to take ownership and use initiative. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across departments. A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in strengthening processes and controls. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues would be advantageous. A collaborative approach and commitment to the organisation's values. Knowledge of property finance or insurance data submissions would be advantageous but is not essential.
