I'm currently partnered with a fast growing FMCG business in Blackburn who are looking to add a Multiskilled Engineer to their team due to department growth. You'll be focused on minimising machinery downtime, conducting preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (days/nights), 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am). Note: No Saturday night shifts; Saturday day shift is 8 hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults, ensuring all actions are recorded for trend analysis.
  • Liaise with engineering leadership to ensure parts availability.
  • Minimise downtime following breakdowns.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers to maintain service quality.
  • Champion health, safety, and building maintenance standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and practices.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge of food processing machinery.
  • Engineering apprenticeship with qualifications (BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering).
  • Ideally, IEE qualification up to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Proven experience in fault-finding within an FMCG environment.
  • Understanding of HACCP, COSHH, and GMP principles.
  • PLC fault-finding and CMMS experience.
  • Ability to implement preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear to software implementation.
  • Experience driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
