A well-established chemical manufacturing business is seeking an electrically biased Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team in Tameside. This is a permanent opportunity offering stability, a strong salary package, and a flexible mon-fri shift pattern with strong overtime earning potential.

The Role

Working on a rotating 3-shift pattern (06:00-14:00, 07:00-15:00, 14:00-22:00), you will be responsible for maintaining plant reliability through a combination of preventative and reactive maintenance. You'll play a key role in ensuring production uptime while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance across all plant machinery
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown response
  • Fault-finding on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvements to enhance performance and reliability
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and within required timeframes
  • Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to on-site apprentices

Requirements

  • Electrically biased Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer
  • Recognised engineering qualification (apprentice trained preferred)
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, supported by mechanical knowledge
  • Experience within a manufacturing or process environment (chemical advantageous)
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to workload
