A leading manufacturing business in Belfast is seeking an Interim Financial Reporting Manager to join their team with immediate effect. This is a unique opportunity for a fully qualified accountant who thrives in a collaborative environment and can quickly take ownership of the month-end close, group consolidation, VAT, and comprehensive financial reporting.

As an Interim Financial Reporting Manager based in Belfast, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of financial data across the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the entire month-end close cycle from start to finish, overseeing everything from accruals through to final reporting, whilst also taking charge of group consolidations for multiple entities. You will be responsible for preparing VAT returns across several jurisdictions, maintaining strong internal controls throughout all processes, and providing valuable commercial insights that support both operational managers and senior leadership.

  • Take full ownership of the month-end close process by ensuring timely and accurate completion of all related tasks including accruals for accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare, review, and submit detailed financial reports in accordance with group requirements and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee group consolidation activities by managing multi-entity reporting and ensuring consistency across all business units.
  • Manage VAT returns and indirect tax reporting for UK, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland entities while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by collaborating with operational managers to provide insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitor net working capital by overseeing receivables, payables, accruals, and VAT balances to optimise cashflow management.
  • Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to accounting standards and governance policies.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify opportunities for cost control improvements and enhanced financial performance.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies in current systems or procedures and implementing effective solutions.
  • Provide commercial finance support by responding to audit queries, supporting year-end planning, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

What you'll bring:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent qualification with demonstrable experience in financial control roles within complex organisations.
  • Immediate availability or capacity to commence employment by early June 2026.
  • Proven track record of managing month-end close processes including preparation of accruals for both accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Extensive experience preparing statutory reports as well as group consolidations across multi-entity environments using advanced ERP or reporting systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of VAT compliance requirements for UK / NI / ROI entities along with hands-on experience handling audits or advisory queries related to indirect tax.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with exceptional organisational abilities enabling you to manage competing priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills allowing you to build positive relationships with operational managers while delivering clear financial guidance tailored to non-finance audiences.
  • Demonstrated history of driving process improvements that enhance efficiency, data quality, or internal controls within finance functions.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff members within finance teams is highly desirable as it supports knowledge sharing across departments.
  • Ability to provide commercial finance support by partnering with business leaders on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow optimisation, and strategic planning initiatives.

Whilst this role will be on a FTC, I am open to considering candidates on a Day Rate between Β£300-Β£350pd Inside via IR35.
