Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading logistics and supply chain organisation, for the role of Warehouse Shift Manager within their warehouse operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will play a key role in driving operational excellence and team performance.
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom
Contract Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Shift Patterns: Rotational Days
- Week 1: Sunday – Thursday, 14:00 – 22:00
- Week 2: Monday – Friday, 06:00 – 14:00
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Assistant General Manager.
- Lead, motivate, and guide a team of First Line Managers, Team Leaders, and warehouse colleagues.
- Assign tasks to ensure optimal productivity while managing resources effectively to maximise labour and equipment utilisation.
- Monitor daily operational figures, identify stock or picking/loading errors, and escalate issues to relevant teams.
- Foster a positive culture by engaging with your team and encouraging collaboration to achieve performance goals.
- Drive clear communication across all levels—colleagues, management, and support functions—through regular briefings and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and procedures within your team.
- Promote company values and behaviours while coaching and mentoring your team for skill development and career progression.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and methods of operation.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- Proven experience as a Shift Manager or similar leadership role within a warehouse environment.
- A strong track record in managing diverse teams in a multicultural setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- The ability to build rapport with employees and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
- Strong organisational, leadership, motivational, and team-building skills.
- An approachable demeanour with the ability to handle situations fairly and consistently.
- Experience working within a unionised environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of budgets and cost control is desirable but not essential.
- A passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and leading change initiatives.
- Flexibility to work various shift patterns in response to seasonal customer demand.
