Overview

Our client, a leading independent financial advisory and asset management firm, is seeking a UK Tax Accountant for a 6-month fixed term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a global network of relationships with key decision-makers in corporations, governments, and investing institutions. The successful candidate will assist the UK Tax Manager in day-to-day tax compliance and consulting for all UK entities as well as some offshore operations.

What you\’ll do

As a UK Tax Accountant, your role will be pivotal in supporting the UK Tax Manager in managing day-to-day tax compliance and consulting activities. You will be involved in various aspects of taxation, including corporation tax, VAT, payroll related duties, and tax accounting. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be crucial in preparing annual corporation tax computations, managing VAT returns, and ensuring VAT liabilities are settled on time. Your ability to prioritise tasks will be essential as you balance various responsibilities such as assisting with payroll duties, preparing tax figures for annual accounts, and providing general support to the UK Tax Manager.

  • Assist in preparing annual corporation tax computation for all entities and preparing quarterly tax instalments for QIP payments to HMRC.
  • Manage preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Calculate Annual Adjustment and annual partial exemption percentages.
  • Prepare payment requests to ensure VAT liabilities are settled on time.
  • Oversee all VAT accounting.
  • Assist with payroll related duties including preparation and submission of the annual PSA returns for benefits provided to staff.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the tax figures in both annual accounts, and annual and quarterly New York Lazard Group returns.
  • Assist in drafting tax policies and procedures from time to time.
  • Provide general support where necessary to UK Tax Manager which may include conducting research or providing responses to tax consulting queries as needed by the business.

As a UK Tax Accountant, you bring a strong academic background coupled with experience in relevant fields. Your qualifications as a recently chartered accountant specialising in tax, along with your strong understanding of basic accounting concepts, will be invaluable in this role. Your excellent analytical, problem-solving and commercial skills will enable you to navigate complex tax scenarios effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role. Your ability to prioritise tasks, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail will contribute significantly to your success.

  • Strong academic background, preferably with a relevant degree.
  • Experience in relevant field(s).
  • Recently qualified chartered accountant specialising in tax.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and commercial skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills – articulate and confident.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • High level of attention to quality, detail, accuracy and precision in work.
