The Company: My client is a leading clean technology company, based at the forefront of ship efficiency solutions and maritime decarbonisation, has made significant strides in the industry. The company’s patented technology harnesses both air and ocean power, as well as advanced fluid dynamics, to deliver measurable fuel and emissions savings for oceangoing vessels. Its purpose is to revolutionise maritime energy efficiency, aiming to set new standards for all newbuild vessels and offer proven retrofit solutions for existing vessels. They are now seeking 2 x Technical Sales Managers to join their team. Based in either London or Southampton.

Role Summary: The Technical Sales Manager will represent the company in promoting its products and services to potential customers. They will be responsible for driving the sales of solutions for allocated customers, sales channels, and market segments. Core responsibilities include overseeing the sales process for allocated opportunities, which includes reviewing and qualifying leads, setting bid strategies, reviewing customer enquiry documentation, performing business case evaluations, and negotiating with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate leads, develop market/customer intelligence, customer relationships, and marketing opportunities for the company’s solutions.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and implement customer sales presentations, customer visits, and support marketing events.
  • Perform qualification of leads and opportunities.
  • Review customer enquiry documentation and define opportunity bid strategies.
  • Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, including scope documentation, terms and conditions, and cost and price breakdowns, working closely with engineering, supply chain, commercial, and delivery teams.
  • Undertake customer business case evaluations.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer bid negotiations.
  • Adhere to the agreed company proposal approval process.
  • Participate in and lead sales handover meetings as required.
  • Manage allocated leads and opportunities within the company CRM system.
  • Provide feedback and assist with improvements to product offerings based on customer requirements.
  • Represent the company in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in sales and proposal development related to equipment sales within the marine sector.
  • Strong customer focus, personable, and presentable, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Good technical knowledge of marine equipment and systems and their application.
  • Ability to provide technical and commercial presentations, both internally and to potential customers.
  • A good understanding of commercial terms and conditions (preferred).
  • Experience with sales processes and CRM systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively both remotely and in an office environment.
  • Ability to work within a sales and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Experience in marine equipment sales.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions for marine equipment sales.
  • Experience communicating and working with marine industry customers and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable team player.
  • Knowledge of the energy (particularly LNG) shipping industry is preferred.
  • Experience working with energy shipping companies is preferred.
