Senior Treasury Accountant (Based in New Zealand)

This is a rare senior accounting position in an outstanding NZX listed business. We are looking for a Senior Treasury Accountant with back-office treasury experience based in Auckland, New Zealand. You will oversee treasury operations, provide financial analysis, and uphold standards in hedge accounting while supporting organizational transformation and growth.

What you\’ll do:

As a Senior Treasury Accountant in Auckland, you will manage treasury transactions, ensure hedge accounting accuracy, collaborate across departments, and mentor peers. Your responsibilities include:

• Completing monthly accounting for treasury transactions, foreign exchange, and debt activities, with procedural improvements.
• Supervising hedging strategies, maintaining documentation, and testing hedge relationships.
• Preparing forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
• Monitoring compliance with Treasury Policy, preparing reports, reconciliations, and authorizations.
• Advising on treasury strategies, supporting audits, and statutory reporting.
• Leading system upgrades and process automation projects.
• Supporting front office treasury and finance teams with analytical input.
• Mentoring treasury accounting staff to promote best practices.
• Engaging with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure effective communication.

What you bring:

Successful candidates will have experience in multinational corporate treasury and accounting, with attention to detail and expertise in hedge accounting. Requirements include:

• A tertiary qualification in Finance and Chartered Accountant membership or equivalent.
• At least six years in financial/back-office treasury accounting, with three years in treasury-specific roles.
• Strong technical accounting skills and analytical ability.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Leadership qualities demonstrated through mentoring or coaching.
• Teamwork and rapport-building skills with internal and external partners.
