Our client is in search of a dynamic and hands-on Financial Controller to manage and oversee the financial operations of their business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within the finance team as the company continues to grow, with potential acquisitions on the horizon. Based in Milton Keynes, you will be responsible for managing the financial functions of the organisation, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial reports
  • Leading tax return submissions
  • Developing budgets and forecasts
  • Monitoring cash flow
  • Implementing internal controls
  • Supervising junior staff members
  • Providing financial advice to other departments

Your expertise will be crucial in driving profitability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting on variances, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management
  • Lead the preparation and submission of tax returns (VAT, corporation tax, etc.)
  • Develop, manage, and refine the company's annual budget and periodic forecasts
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure the company's financial health
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information
  • Supervise and mentor junior finance staff
  • Provide financial advice and support to other departments to drive profitability and operational efficiency

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or QBE)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a financial control role within an SME or similar business environment
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel
  • Experience leading and mentoring a small team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make data-driven decisions
