An established organisation based in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leadership and a knowledgeable, supportive team, gaining broad exposure across group finance activities within a PLC environment. What you'll do
You will play a key role in supporting the finance function by managing essential accounting processes that support business performance and compliance. Your work will span month-end activities, management reporting, audits, and cashflow forecasting. You will work closely with colleagues across departments and with external advisers, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and clearly communicated to senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Taking ownership of group month-end processes, ensuring reconciliations and reviews are completed accurately and on time
- Performing bank reconciliations, reconciling fixed asset registers, and completing debtor and creditor reviews as part of monthly close
- Preparing accruals and prepayments and maintaining external and related-party loan workings
- Overseeing the payroll process, including preparation of monthly payroll journals
- Raising management fees for group entities and completing monthly consolidation journals
- Conducting variance analysis on overheads and preparing monthly reporting packs for senior leadership
- Supporting the year-end audit process, including assisting with the Annual Report and liaising with external auditors
- Managing group cashflow forecasting, preparing management accounts and reporting packs, and supporting actuals reporting
- Preparing and submitting VAT and CIS returns and liaising with tax advisers on tax submissions
- Compiling annual accounts for group entities for submission to Companies House, ensuring statutory compliance
