We are seeking an experienced Financial and Tax Accountant to manage the financial reporting, external audit process, statutory filings, and tax compliance for a subsidiary within the Group. This role will involve overseeing corporate tax filings, supporting personal tax matters, and ensuring regulatory compliance across financial processes.
Key Responsibilities of the Financial and Tax Accountant
- External Audit & Statutory Reporting: Lead and manage the External Audit process, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of statutory financial statements in accordance with local and Group requirements. Coordinate the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations.
- Corporate & Personal Tax Compliance: Manage corporate tax filings, including the preparation of tax computations, and collaborate with the Group Tax team to ensure timely and compliant filings. Assist with the personal tax compliance for senior employees or executives, ensuring all related filings (e.g., income tax, benefits, and allowances) are handled correctly and submitted on time.
- Collaborate with the Internal Audit team to support internal audits and ensure that any findings are addressed promptly through appropriate remediation plans and projects in coordination with Operational Finance.
- Take ownership of the subsidiary’s budgets and forecasting processes, ensuring financial forecasts are aligned with business strategies. Prepare balance sheet forecasts and provide ongoing analysis of variances between actual performance and forecasted results.
- Support the Finance Reporting team in fulfilling external reporting requirements, including insurance documentation, operational filings, and ONS returns.
- Drive continuous improvements in financial reporting, reconciliation, and tax compliance processes to streamline workflows and improve accuracy.
- Intercompany & Cost Allocation: Manage intercompany recharges and cost allocations, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with Group accounting policies.
What the successful candidate will bring
- Professional Accounting Qualification: Qualified by experience (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CTA or ATT)
- Experience in Corporate Tax: Strong knowledge of corporate tax processes and the ability to work with tax teams to ensure compliance with all tax filing requirements.
- Personal Tax Compliance: Experience in handling personal tax matters for senior employees, including income tax returns, benefits, and allowances.
- Technical Accounting Expertise: Proven experience in financial accounting, including preparing and analysing financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 or IFRS.
- VAT & Tax Filings: Experience in preparing and submitting VAT returns and corporate tax filings.
