A fast-growing, well-established UK business based in Bedford with a strong reputation for operational excellence and exceptional service is seeking a Financial Controller. As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Director with day-to-day financial management and strategic decision-making, while leading a dedicated team of finance professionals.
What you'll do
- Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and control across the business to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Produce timely monthly management accounts, board packs, and key performance reports to support informed decision-making at every level.
- Support the Financial Director in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes by providing reliable financial data and insights.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure operational needs are met and investment opportunities maximised.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and maintain all ledgers to the highest standard for robust financial integrity.
- Liaise with auditors to guarantee full compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations throughout the year.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six finance professionals covering accounts payable, credit control, administration, data analysis, and management accounts.
What you'll bring
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with at least five years' post-qualification experience in finance roles.
- Strong technical accounting skills demonstrated through experience in both management reporting and statutory reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrable ability to manage and develop finance teams within dynamic environments where collaboration is essential for success.
- Exceptional organisational skills enabling you to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities effectively.
