Our client is seeking a VAT Accountant to join their business based in Coventry. You will be responsible for managing VAT returns for several European entities, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all reporting activities. The role is paying £45-50k (DOE), and will be on-site for the 3-month probationary period, after which it will become hybrid (3 days in office, 2 from home).
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly VAT returns for multiple European countries, ensuring compliance with local regulations and deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the finance team to gather necessary data and documentation for VAT submissions.
- Review and reconcile VAT accounts for assigned entities, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
- Support the implementation of best practices within the centre of excellence by sharing knowledge and contributing to process improvements.
- Communicate effectively with external advisors and local authorities regarding VAT matters as required.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date records of all VAT registrations across various jurisdictions, ensuring all filings are complete and compliant.
- Participate in regular internal reviews of VAT processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Provide support during audits by preparing relevant documentation and responding to queries related to VAT returns.
- Contribute to the development of internal controls around indirect tax processes within the European region.
- Work collaboratively with other team members on ad hoc projects relating to indirect tax.
