Our client, a global sport and entertainment network, is looking to secure a Senior Legal Counsel to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a broader global legal team, contributing significantly to the growth and success of an ambitious media network. This role is based in Central London with hybrid work arrangements on offer.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Negotiating and advising on major commercial agreements such as sponsorship agreements and hosting / staging agreements.
- Leading and negotiating high-value and significant sports rights acquisition agreements with major rights holders and partners.
- Negotiating and drafting documents relating to original content production such as talent contracts and production agreements.
- Advise on tenders, offer documents, sales documents, and post-contract discussions.
- Providing strategic legal advice with respect to bid strategy and commercial strategies.
- Assisting with litigation and contentious issues as they arise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across different Group business functions.
- Remaining up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments in sports coverage and the industry.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Qualified lawyer with ideally 5 – 8 years’ PQE, ideally trained at an international law firm, with in-house experience (could be gained through a secondment).
- Proven experience negotiating and advising on complex high-value commercial agreements in the sports, media or entertainment sector.
- Good understanding of the digital media landscape and evolving trends in content exploitation and distribution.
- Excellent technical legal ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to find pragmatic commercial solutions to complex legal and commercial issues.
- Articulate and capable of explaining complex legal and commercial points in simple language.
