A leading international financial institution is seeking a VP, Product Control to join their London-based Finance department. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in the financial controls of Sales & Trading businesses, supporting a wide range of desks including Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Fixed Income trading, and more. You will be at heart of daily P&L reporting and Balance Sheet controls, acting as the principal point of contact for Front Office traders. What you’ll do

  • Deliver daily profit and loss reporting for all products and services across securities product desks with accuracy and insightful commentary.
  • Provide backup cover for daily P&L reporting on derivative trades with particular focus on IRS, CCS, and RPI transactions.
  • Produce daily XVA reports while continuously enhancing the independent price verification process to ensure robust controls.
  • Investigate root causes of issues identified in core activities by collaborating with stakeholders to resolve them efficiently.
  • Drive enhancements to the control framework by identifying opportunities for process automation and change management initiatives.
  • Substantiate general ledger balances on the balance sheet through detailed analysis and reconciliation procedures.
  • Ensure that general ledger revenue balances align with management reports and daily revenue statements by providing clear explanations.
  • Develop subject-matter expertise to contribute effectively to bank-wide transformation initiatives focused on finance operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office teams as well as infrastructure groups to maintain transparency in financial reporting processes.
  • Support other team members by coaching and sharing knowledge to foster a collaborative work environment.

What you bring

  • Demonstrated experience in product control within investment banking or capital markets environments with a proven track record of managing financial controls.
  • Advanced understanding of securities business including bond, equity, repo trade life cycles, corporate actions, and general ledger accounting throughout transaction lifespans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of market risks associated with various securities products along with mechanisms of underwriting processes.
  • Ability to distinguish between trade date/value date accounting methods; ideally possessing familiarity with IFRS / GAAP accounting standards differences.
  • Proficiency in end-to-end operating models for finance functions including accounting process flows and their implications on reporting outcomes.
  • Solid grasp of CVA (Credit Valuation Adjustment), DVA (Debit Valuation Adjustment), FVA (Funding Valuation Adjustment) calculations and factors influencing their daily valuation.
  • Experience managing self and others in resolving issues proactively while coaching colleagues in a collaborative manner.
  • Excellent communication skills enabling effective presentation of technical or complex matters to diverse audiences across the organisation.
  • Controls-first mindset dedicated to maintaining integrity of core financials while continuously enhancing control environments through process improvement initiatives.
