You will be part of a knowledgeable and supportive team that values your expertise, encourages your professional growth, and offers flexible working opportunities to help you balance your career ambitions with personal commitments. What you’ll do

  • Support the end-to-end preparation of necessary returns such as VAT, GST, sales tax, EU sales lists, and other indirect tax filings prepared by third-party providers to ensure full compliance with reporting and collection obligations in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations related to indirect taxes and resolve discrepancies by liaising with internal stakeholders and external advisors as needed.
  • Drive improvements in current systems used for indirect tax reporting to reduce time spent on return preparation, strengthen controls, and ensure readiness for future regulatory developments including e-invoicing and real-time digital reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate IT Applications Team to design and implement systems that support group-wide reporting requirements connected to commodities trading, new financial instruments, or entry into new geographical markets.
  • Engage with local advisors to provide expert tax advice on matters affecting the business’s operations across various jurisdictions.
  • Deliver advisory services to front office colleagues who trade commodities and other assets so they understand the commercial impact and compliance requirements of all taxes throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure contracts adequately address indirect taxes such as customs duties, import VAT, VAT/GST, sales taxes, and withholding taxes to minimise risk exposure for the firm.
  • Monitor changes in international tax regulations affecting commodities trading activities and proactively communicate implications to relevant teams.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing overall tax compliance processes within the organisation.
  • Participate in regular reviews of internal controls related to indirect tax processes and recommend enhancements where necessary.

What you bring

  • At least three years of relevant experience in a Professional Services firm with hands-on exposure as part of an in-house tax team focused on indirect taxes.
  • Knowledge of Workday or experience within commodities environments is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn new systems is highly valued.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong technical skills using MS Excel for data analysis, reconciliation tasks, and process documentation.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements within indirect tax functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines, especially during busy reporting periods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with IT, front office teams, and external advisers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities to explain complex tax concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development through training or self-directed learning.
  • A positive attitude towards teamwork in an inclusive environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
