Robert Walters is recruiting on behalf of a confidential, regulated organisation for a Financial Crime Manager to join their compliance function in Birmingham. This is a key role with responsibility for leading financial crime controls while supporting the MLRO across regulatory, audit, and risk management activities.
Location: Birmingham (office-based)
Employment type: Permanent
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee AML, CTF, sanctions, and broader financial crime frameworks.
- Act as Deputy MLRO, supporting the MLRO with regulatory reporting and external engagement.
- Manage financial crime risk assessments, policies, and controls.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance monitoring activity.
- Work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the business.
- Provide guidance and challenge to the business on financial crime matters.
- Manage, coach, and develop a small compliance team.
- Stay up to date with regulatory developments and ensure ongoing compliance.
Essentials / Qualifications:
- Strong experience in financial crime compliance within a regulated environment.
- Proven AML and financial crime expertise, with exposure to sanctions and CTF frameworks.
- Experience operating at Manager or Deputy MLRO level, or demonstrably ready to step up.
- Confident engaging with regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
- Practical, hands-on approach with strong judgement and attention to detail.
