An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a highly respected organisation based in Runcorn, supporting the financial performance of central functions across all UK entities. You will play a key part in ensuring the successful completion of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes, while also providing valuable analysis and insight into central costs.
What you\’ll do:
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will immerse yourself in a variety of tasks that underpin the financial health of the organisation\’s central functions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you working closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure that all aspects of management accounting are delivered efficiently. You will be involved in preparing detailed management accounts, supporting budget cycles, producing insightful variance analyses, maintaining accurate balance sheets, managing intercompany transactions and contributing to process improvements.
- Support the financial accounting and period end processes for both profit and loss and balance sheet activities related to central cost functions
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports as well as key performance indicator (KPI) reporting for central business areas across all UK entities.
- Contribute to the production of forecasts, budgets, and long-term plans by gathering data on central or shared costs and collaborating with colleagues to ensure robust financial planning.
- Provide regular and ad hoc financial analysis on central costs-particularly payroll and full-time equivalent (FTE) reporting-to support business performance reviews led by senior finance staff.
- Maintain adherence to financial systems and controls relating to central function processes by ensuring all reporting activity is completed accurately and promptly to mitigate risk.
- Support accurate intercompany invoicing processes such as cross-border charging by assisting transactional finance teams with matching and clearing intercompany debt.
- Produce detailed balance sheet reconciliations for relevant central cost areas including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, or as requested by senior accountants.
- Help maintain the SAP-RE-FX reporting module by loading contracts and ensuring right-of-use assets and liabilities are accurately reflected in the system.
- Assist with maintaining the fixed asset ledger by ensuring asset listings are up-to-date with correct values, depreciation schedules, amortisation records, and disposal activity.
- Support external audit processes throughout the year for central costs by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor queries as needed.

- Experience in financial or management accounting roles involving journal posting, profit & loss analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation within a large or multi-entity environment.
- Proficiency in analysing large volumes of data using advanced Excel techniques-such as building models, identifying trends, drawing conclusions-and providing clear commentary for non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy or attention to detail when handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent time management skills supported by strong organisational abilities; able to manage competing demands flexibly while adapting quickly to changing requirements.
