Our client is a chartered accountancy firm who is looking for a Tax Accountant to join their team. The role is paying circa Β£30-32k and requires 3 days per week in the office. Previous experience in practice is essential.
What you'll do:
Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring their compliance needs are met efficiently and accurately throughout the year.
Prepare and peer review self-assessment tax returns, associated accounts, claims, and supporting computations for individuals across different sectors.
Handle capital gains tax returns as well as quarterly Making Tax Digital (MTD) submissions, maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all documentation.
Work directly with clients to obtain necessary information, resolve queries promptly, and keep their tax affairs organised and compliant.
Support GP partners and other medical-sector clients by preparing Type 1 and Type 2 superannuation certificates with sensitivity to sector-specific requirements.
Respond to HMRC enquiries, penalty notices, and routine correspondence on behalf of clients in a timely and considerate manner.
Assist clients with day-to-day tax queries by providing clear explanations and guidance tailored to their individual circumstances.
Collaborate with the wider team to support tax planning initiatives and advisory projects when appropriate.
Share your knowledge generously with junior colleagues as your experience develops, fostering a nurturing environment for learning.
Contribute ideas to improve processes within the team while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
What you bring:
Experience working in personal tax within an accountancy practice is essential for this role, demonstrating practical understanding of compliance requirements.
ATT qualification or part-ATT qualified status is highly valued; however, candidates qualified by relevant experience are equally considered.
Strong attention to detail ensures accurate preparation of tax returns and associated documents across various client types.
