An exciting opportunity to join a leading compliance function within a highly established global law firm. The team are open to current Compliance Lawyers AND Fee earners looking to transition in-house.
Key responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date with changes and developments in UK legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations, including SRA Standards and Regulations as well as firm authorisation requirements.
- Advise on necessary policy changes in response to regulatory developments or changes in law, drafting amendments to policies and associated guidance documents.
- Support partners and regulated individuals by responding to queries regarding professional responsibility, ethics, confidentiality, and disclosure obligations.
- Assist in the development and delivery of risk and compliance-related training programmes for both the firm and the team.
- Work closely with the Director of Risk & Compliance (London) on broader projects that enhance the firm's risk management framework.
- Supervise junior members of the Risk & Compliance team by providing guidance, mentorship, and support as appropriate.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across the firm while acting as a representative for the compliance function during meetings or initiatives.
- Respond promptly to general risk and compliance queries from across the organisation, ensuring clarity and accuracy in your advice.
- Promote a culture of ethical awareness, accountability, and robust risk management throughout the firm by sharing best practices.
- Undertake other ad hoc duties as required to support business needs or respond to emerging risks.
Experience required:
- Bachelor's degree required (2:1 or above preferred), demonstrating academic excellence relevant to legal practice.
- Qualified lawyer status with 2+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE), ensuring you have proven expertise within legal environments.
- Previous experience within a compliance team is desirable but not essential; fee earners with regulatory backgrounds considering their first move into risk & compliance are welcomed.
- Exceptional attention to detail enables you to identify potential risks accurately while maintaining high standards in documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills allow you to interpret complex regulations effectively and provide clear advice on policy implications.
- Ability to draft clearly and concisely ensures that your written communications are accessible for all stakeholders.
- Outstanding communication skills-both written and verbal-help you build trust across teams while explaining technical concepts simply.
