Seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Management Accountant to take ownership of monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis across multiple divisions. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data while driving process improvements and supporting strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams, including IT, Financial Accounts, and senior management, to deliver key financial insights and maintain effective communication across all stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of monthly reporting processes.
- Prepare title-based reports for Comics, Books, and Merchandise divisions.
- Develop key schedules and journals as part of the management accounts process.
- Collaborate with IT to optimise P&L data management and automate systems further.
- Produce essential monthly management reports.
- Assist in preparing Budget & Forecast packs for the Comics division.
- Coordinate with the Financial Accounts team to ensure timely delivery of tasks ahead of the management accounts cycle.
Specific Duties:
Management Accounts:
- Manage and coordinate Purchase and Sales Ledger close ahead of the Management Accounts cycle, adhering to deadlines for Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare advances and work-in-progress schedules.
- Calculate magazine sales accruals for all territories.
- Process accruals and prepayments related to production and marketing costs.
- Perform monthly stock valuation calculations for Books distributed in both UK and US markets.
- Upload distributor sales data into Access systems.
- Compile an executive summary each month highlighting key variances in Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet performance.
- Support audit preparation by creating key schedules alongside the Financial Accountant.
Management Reporting:
- Generate consolidated sales reports monthly, including detailed commentary on performance trends.
- Prepare profitability reports for individual titles as requested.
- Analyse sales and marketing expenditure for Comics, Books, and Merchandise divisions on a monthly basis.
- Distribute excess stock reports per distributor each month.
Budgets & Forecasting:
- Compile title-specific budgets and forecasts with summaries and commentaries.
- Present budgets/forecasts at monthly review meetings.
Costings & Royalties:
- Maintain ownership of life-to-date P&Ls for all titles across all divisions.
- Present life-to-date P&Ls during monthly review meetings.
- Prepare profit share statements in line with contractual agreements.
