Responsibilities:

* Assist local teams in applying group accounting policies by developing a thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards and ensuring consistent implementation across the organisation.

* Prepare regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that provide key insights into financial performance for internal stakeholders.

* Consolidate group monthly financial statements and management accounts packs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all submissions.

* Conduct comprehensive group-wide analysis of monthly, quarterly, and full-year financial data to support strategic decision-making processes.

* Support interim review and annual audit processes by preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors as needed.

* Assist with the preparation of the annual budget by gathering data from various departments and compiling detailed forecasts.

* Manage the submission process for monthly accounts and forecasts, coordinating with different teams to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.

* Investigate variances between actual expenditure and budgeted costs for Business Partner functions, providing clear explanations for any discrepancies identified.

* Maintain finance systems and related processes by performing regular updates, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements where necessary.

* Resolve technical support queries from local finance teams promptly to minimise disruptions to daily operations.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Currently studying with a UK accounting body (such as ACCA or CIMA), ideally already part-qualified with demonstrable progress towards full qualification.

* Possess strong systems skills along with awareness and understanding of how different finance platforms interact within an organisational context.

* Advanced proficiency in Excel including designing complex reports using relevant financial add-ins to streamline reporting processes.

* Exceptional attention to detail which ensures accuracy across all aspects of reporting, consolidation, and analysis duties undertaken.

* Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration with colleagues at all levels as well as external auditors during review periods.

* Experience or familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning and Office Connect would be advantageous but not essential for success in this role.

* Previous exposure to Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations is desirable as it will facilitate smoother integration into existing workflows.

* Understanding of multi-currency accounting principles which supports accurate consolidation across international entities within the group structure.

* Experience handling intercompany consolidations or group accounting tasks would be beneficial but not mandatory if you demonstrate willingness to learn quickly.

* Demonstrated initiative when approaching new challenges coupled with an ability to think laterally about creative solutions that enhance efficiency.
