Accounts Payable Manager
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Full-time, 5 days per week office-based
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to join a well-established and growing business based in Dudley. This role offers the chance to lead a high-performing purchase ledger function while playing a key role in driving process improvements, systems enhancements and automation initiatives across the finance department.
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments whilst helping shape the future direction of the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of 3 Accounts Payable professionals.
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement across AP processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Support finance transformation projects, including the implementation of automation tools and system enhancements.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve escalated queries effectively.
- Ensure payment runs are completed accurately and in line with agreed terms.
- Monitor key performance indicators and produce reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with the wider finance team to support month-end activities and process improvements.
- Review and strengthen financial controls within the purchase ledger function.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience managing an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger team.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounts payable processes.
- Experience of driving process improvements, systems implementations or automation projects.
- Excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and priorities effectively.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP or finance systems.
