METERING DATA OPERATIVE
Salary: £27,000 + annual bonus scheme
Location: Bury - Fully office-based
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Mon-Fri (Full Time)
We're looking for a detail-oriented Metering Data Operative to join a growing energy supplier in Bury. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate gas and electricity meter records, investigating data discrepancies and ensuring information is processed correctly to support customer billing.
This role would suit someone with a strong background in data, administration or customer service who enjoys investigating issues and finding solutions. Energy industry experience would be beneficial, but it's not essential for someone with the right skills and approach, as full training will be provided.
What you'll be doing:

Maintaining and updating customer meter records and processing industry data files.

Investigating rejected meter readings, discrepancies and inaccurate information to identify and resolve issues.

Chasing meter readings from customers, engineers and external companies by phone and email.

Coordinating meter installations, removals and reconnections with external metering partners.

Responding to queries from customers and internal teams, ensuring issues are resolved promptly.

Producing basic Excel reports and keeping information accurate and up to date.
What we're looking for:

Strong data handling skills and excellent attention to detail.

An investigative mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and work through problems.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Confident communication skills, both over the phone and via email.

Basic Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using computer systems.

Experience in data, administration, customer service or a similar role.
Energy, utilities or metering industry experience would be an advantage, but candidates with a strong data background and a proactive, problem-solving approach are equally encouraged to apply.
