We are currently recruiting for an experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer in Birmingham.
An established FCA and HMRC-regulated fintech/remittance business is seeking an experienced MLRO to join its senior leadership team. The business operates a fully digital payments platform, facilitating international remittances primarily into West Africa, with a strong compliance framework and an established team already in place.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Board and working closely with the CEO and Managing Director, you will act as the firm's subject matter expert for AML, financial crime and regulatory compliance. This role will focus on enhancing the existing compliance framework, ensuring the business remains ahead of regulatory developments and acting as the key point of contact for the FCA and HMRC.
Key responsibilities include:
- Holding MLRO responsibilities and providing strategic compliance leadership.
- Overseeing AML, financial crime and risk management frameworks.
- Managing regulatory submissions and regulator engagement.
- Conducting enterprise-wide risk assessments.
- Reviewing and enhancing policies, procedures and controls.
- Supporting and developing an established compliance team.
- Advising senior management and presenting to the Board on regulatory and risk matters.
- Monitoring regulatory change and implementing improvements where required.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Previous MLRO, Deputy or senior financial crime/compliance experience.
- Strong AML and financial crime expertise within remittance, fintech, payments, banking or wider regulated financial services.
- Experience engaging directly with the FCA and/or HMRC.
- The ability to operate at Board level and influence senior stakeholders.
- A proactive and commercial approach to compliance and risk management.
