Our Global Investment Banking division provides M&A, debt advisory, and financing services to middle-market companies. As a Baird Investment Banker, you'll work on high-profile transactions, gaining insights across various sectors while contributing to our clients' long-term success.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Demonstrate strong commercial judgment and market awareness, with a deep understanding of the investment banking landscape, key industry trends, and client priorities.
  • Analyse complex financial statements and business performance metrics to identify opportunities, risks, and key value drivers.
  • Handle, review, and synthesise large volumes of data, identifying and clearly articulating the patterns, trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities that inform the team’s analysis and recommendations.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated financial models, including valuation, merger consequences, LBO, and operating models to support strategic advice and transaction execution.
  • Review a range of business models and key performance metrics to help build a compelling investment case and equity story, and prepare clear, concise, and compelling written materials, including client communications, transaction documentation.
  • Support the execution of live transactions across M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory engagements working directly with senior bankers, C-suite and management teams, and third-party advisers.
  • Develop high-quality client presentations and marketing materials that communicate complex financial and strategic concepts with clarity and impact.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of global capital markets, equity performance, and broader economic trends to inform client discussions and transaction strategy.
  • Work on cross-border and multi-market transactions, drawing on Baird’s international platform and global reach to advise clients well beyond a single regional market.
  • Conduct in-depth company, industry, and market research using leading investment banking databases and proprietary resources to generate insights and support client recommendations.

What You’ll Bring to Baird:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), ideally in a numerate, business, or related discipline.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Investment Banking (sell-side M&A, corporate finance, or transaction services).
  • A genuine interest in, and working knowledge of, the Technology & Services sector; prior sector-coverage experience is a plus.
  • A strong academic record and interest in finance and capital markets.
  • A solid work ethic, teamwork skills, and self-direction.
  • Excellent quantitative, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Strong data-analysis skills, with the ability to handle, review, and synthesise large volumes of information to identify patterns, trends, and outliers.
  • Strong organisational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with financial databases (e.g. Capital IQ, PitchBook, Mergermarket) is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages an advantage.
  • A genuine drive to win and a strong commitment to internal and external client service.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to new tasks and thrive under changing priorities.
