Responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. Leads the estimating process from bid review through proposal submission while ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and alignment with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to accurately quantify materials, labour, and plant requirements.
  • Perform detailed take-offs and input data into estimating software with accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare clear scopes of work, cost breakdowns, and commercially robust estimates.
  • Compile complete tender submissions, including proposals, risk analyses, programmes, method statements, and supporting documents.
  • Issue enquiries to suppliers/subcontractors, evaluate returns for compliance, and secure competitive pricing.
  • Track and report on all bids submitted; provide monthly estimating reports to management.
  • Evaluate cost-effectiveness of materials, labour, and subcontractor options.
  • Maintain accurate tender records and support variation pricing requests from the project team.
  • Coordinate closely with Electrical Operations Managers on project details, labour forecasting, procurement needs, and logistical requirements.
  • Attend site meetings and surveys to gather project information and validate assumptions.
  • Lead the estimating function for Electrical small works.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine system layouts and associated equipment requirements.
  • Provide accurate cost information to project managers and assist in day-to-day coordination of the electrical team.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of electrical estimating experience in construction or contracting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, construction methods, and materials.
