Job Overview
An Approved Electrician required to carry out 1st and 2nd fix electrical installations on new-build residential flats, working to drawings, specifications, and current wiring regulations. Work is paid on a price-per-plot / price-per-point basis with consistent work available.
Key Responsibilities
1st Fix Duties
- Reading and working from electrical drawings and specs
- Installing:
- PVC conduit / twin & earth / FP cables
- Back boxes (metal & plastic)
- Cable containment (trunking, tray where required)
- Fire alarm, data, TV, and door entry wiring
- Drilling, chasing, and setting out to agreed standards
- Ensuring cables are correctly labelled and protected
- Coordinating with other trades on site
2nd Fix Duties
- Sockets, switches, and accessories
- Consumer units and final circuit connections
- Lighting fittings (including LED downlights)
- Smoke / heat detectors, Extractor fans and isolators
- Testing and fault-finding on own work
- Completing snagging to site standards
- Working to plot completion deadlines
Testing & Compliance
- Dead and live testing where required
- Minor Works Certificates / Installation Certificates
- Ensuring compliance with:
- BS 7671 (18th Edition)
- Site QA procedures
- Building Control requirements
Requirements
- Approved Electrician (Gold Card)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Experience on new-build residential sites
- Own tools and PPE
Site Conditions
- Long-term work available
- Immediate start often available
- Monday-Friday (overtime sometimes available)
