We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our client in Winchester. This role supports the entire project lifecycle, from conducting site surveys and preparing quotations to organising labour, materials, and overseeing project delivery on site. Initially, you will assist on smaller projects alongside our Contracts Manager and Project Engineer. As your experience develops, you will take ownership of larger commercial and residential projects and manage them independently. The role involves occasional travel to customer sites for surveys and project meetings. You will also brief installation teams and act as the key link between customers and engineers to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial site survey to final completion.
- Conduct site surveys to support accurate and competitive quotations.
- Prepare and issue quotations to customers.
- Plan and organise labour, materials, and project resources.
- Produce and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Attend project sites to brief installation teams once work is secured.
- Act as the main point of contact between customers and installation engineers.
- Monitor project progress and ensure works are delivered on time and to specification.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Produce Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals for customers upon project completion.
- Maintain clear communication with both internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Ideally 2+ years' experience within an engineering environment, although engineering graduates with strong motivation to learn will also be considered.
- Comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers, and engineers via phone, email, and in person.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- AutoCAD experience is desirable but not essential. Training can be provided where required.
- Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Flexibility to attend occasional early or late site meetings or surveys (hours can be taken back in lieu).
- Primarily office-based in Winchester, with occasional flexibility for home working when required.
