The plumber will be responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning all plumbing and water-related systems within a new-build nursery. The role requires high attention to safety, hygiene, and compliance with building regulations, given the childcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install first and second fix plumbing systems in accordance with drawings and specifications
- Install hot and cold water systems, soil and waste pipes, and rainwater systems
- Fit sanitaryware suitable for a nursery environment (toilets, basins, sinks, baby-change units, etc.)
- Install water heaters, pipework insulation, and associated valves and controls
- Ensure systems meet hygiene, temperature control, and anti-scald requirements (e.g. TMVs)
- Pressure test and commission plumbing systems
- Liaise with site managers, other trades, and inspectors to ensure smooth progress
- Work to project timelines and coordinate work with other building activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-safe working environment
- Follow all health & safety procedures, including safeguarding considerations on a nursery site
Requirements / Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
- Proven experience on new-build or commercial projects (education settings preferred)
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Water Regulations
- Experience installing TMVs and systems suitable for childcare settings
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Blue JIB card
- Enhanced DBS check may be required (depending on site stage)
