Working Hours: Summer: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Apr-Sep) Winter: 8:00am - 6:00pm (Oct-Mar) Out-of-hours escalation rota (evenings/weekends)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead our Private B2B Department, delivering commercial plumbing, heating, gas, electrical and compliance services across London. This is a senior, profit-focused role with responsibility for operational performance, client retention and business growth across a diverse commercial portfolio including schools, care homes, leisure centres, offices and other commercial sites. You will work closely with Engineering Managers, Client Services, Supply Chain and Field Engineering teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient service delivery while driving revenue and margin growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Private B2B department, managing engineers, supervisors and office teams.
- Drive commercial growth through new business, tenders, quoting and upselling opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients, acting as senior escalation point.
- Oversee delivery of commercial plumbing, heating, gas and electrical works across multiple sites.
- Ensure jobs are planned, resourced and delivered on time and within budget.
- Monitor departmental KPIs including SLA performance, first-time fix, revenue, margins and utilisation.
- Manage budgets, costs, subcontractors and resource efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Gas Safe, Health & Safety and internal quality standards.
- Provide technical and operational escalation support, including out-of-hours emergencies.
- Drive continuous improvement, quality assurance and performance management across the department.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in Contracts Management / Operations Management within plumbing, heating, gas, M&E or FM.
- Strong commercial and client management background.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in project planning, KPI reporting and budget control.
- Good knowledge of Gas Safe and Health & Safety compliance.
- Commercial mindset with ability to drive growth and profitability.
