Key Responsibilities
- Accurately undertake any necessary take-offs of drawings and schedules and perform data entry into the estimating software.
- Provide detailed scope of works with breakdowns.
- Oversee the compilation of the tender return to ensure all elements are accounted for prior to submittal.
- Identify and review material and labour requirements in order to determine which is more cost effective.
- Be involved in winning and tendering desired projects with suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Review tender documentation issued by clients and drive a thorough understanding of requirements.
- Responsible for accurately quantifying materials, plant and labour requirements for allocated projects.
- Ensure that for pre-designed projects, enquiries relative to the supply of materials, plant and labour are satisfactorily dealt with and that relevant information, contractual and trading particulars are distributed.
- Set up, in conjunction with others, estimating processes and procedures, systems and database.
- Maintain the estimating system to ensure all labour norms and prime costs are correct.
- Prepare tender risk analysis and ensure tender submission is appropriately clarified.
- Prepare Contractors proposals forming part of the tender submission, together with tender programmes, organisation charts, method statements etc.
- Send out enquiries and work closely with the M&E Buyer and supply chain at tender stage to ensure that we have a correct and competitive prime cost.
- Vet all subcontractor and plant tender submissions for compliance.
- Provide estimating workload planner and maintain a database of bids submitted.
- Lead and manage the estimating of all Electrical small works.
- Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for Electrical systems and the related equipment.
