Job Purpose

To carry out the installation of electrical systems on a Healthcare site. This includes working with critical systems such as backup power supplies, medical equipment circuits, and lighting systems in strict adherence to healthcare regulations and electrical safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate power, lighting, and emergency lighting circuits.
  • Install containment systems (trunking, conduit, tray, etc.).
  • Connect and test distribution boards and consumer units.
  • Perform first and second fix installation works in live hospital or construction environments.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, plans, and schematics.
  • Work around sensitive and potentially live hospital environments with minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, plumbing, and other site teams.
  • Adhere to site health and safety policies and RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
  • Maintain accurate installation and testing documentation for compliance and handover.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • AM2 Certification.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • IPAF/PASMA.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

Experience

  • Proven experience working on healthcare facilities or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) and hospital electrical guidelines (e.g., HTM 06-01).
  • Familiar with essential and non-essential power systems, UPS systems, generator backup, etc.

Skills

  • High attention to detail and workmanship quality.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and layouts.
  • Clear understanding of safety and infection control in medical settings.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Tools & Equipment

  • Electricians must supply their own hand tools.
  • Power tools.
  • Full PPE.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday 07:30-16:30
Overtime/Weekend work may be available.
