The Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing SME to appoint an experienced Interim Finance Director to support the business through an important period of change and development. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the finance function, provide commercial insight, strengthen controls and support strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on role requiring an individual who can operate at both a strategic and operational level. The successful candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, improving processes and ensuring the business has the financial information required to support growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day finance function and manage a small finance team.
Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
Own budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management processes.
Provide commercial support and challenge to the Managing Director and leadership team.
Improve financial controls, processes and reporting capability.
Review working capital, cash management and profitability performance.
Lead year-end accounting activities and manage relationships with auditors, banks and external advisers.
Oversee balance sheet integrity and ensure robust reconciliation processes are in place.
Support operational decision-making through meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting.
Identify and implement process improvements across finance and wider business operations.
Assist with business planning, strategic initiatives and potential growth opportunities.
Key Requirements
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Previous experience operating as a Finance Director, Financial Controller or Head of Finance.
Strong SME experience with the ability to work in a hands-on environment.
Proven track record of delivering finance transformation, process improvement or business change initiatives.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
