Robert Half is supporting a global consulting firm in the search for a hands-on Senior Data Analyst to join a major transformation programme. This role is focused on deep data analysis, SQL investigation, and resolving data quality issues, working closely with stakeholders but primarily operating within the data itself day-to-day.

Assignment Details

  • Initial 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
  • Start Date: 2–3 weeks (fast-track onboarding)
  • Location: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in London)
  • Rate: Β£450 p/day via FCSA-accredited umbrella

The Role

This is a heavily SQL-driven role suited to someone comfortable interrogating datasets, identifying issues, and resolving data problems across complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on SQL analysis of datasets to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and root causes
  • Investigating and resolving data issues across multiple systems and data sources
  • Performing data validation, reconciliation, and transformation checks
  • Working on source-to-target mapping and ensuring accuracy of data flows
  • Analysing complex and overlapping datasets (deduplication, cleansing, anomaly detection)
  • Supporting migration and transformation workstreams with a strong focus on data accuracy
  • Producing data artefacts such as data dictionaries, validation rules, and mapping documentation
  • Working with BI/reporting teams to ensure data is fit-for-purpose
  • Supporting data governance activities including PII, GDPR, and data controls

Required Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience as a Data Analyst in data-heavy environments
  • Strong SQL skills – must be confident querying and analysing data independently
  • Proven experience investigating and resolving data quality issues
  • Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and data cleansing
  • Strong experience with data migration, mapping, and transformations
  • Comfortable working with large, messy datasets across multiple sources
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Understanding of data structures and relationships (data models, entities)
  • Practical understanding of data governance concepts (GDPR, PII, data controls)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks or similar modern data platforms
  • Exposure to MDM tools (e.g. Profisee, Ataccama)
  • Financial services data experience
  • Visio or process mapping tools
