Job Description

Robert Half Technology are assisting a global market leading technology consultancy to recruit a Spotify Backstage Developer on a contract basis - remote working - outside IR35

We're looking for a skilled Backstage Developer to help design, build, and maintain internal developer portal using Spotify Backstage. This role will focus on improving the developer experience across our engineering teams by centralising tools, documentation, and workflows into a single, cohesive platform.

Role

  • The Spotify Backstage Developer will design, develop, and maintain plugins and extensions within Spotify Backstage.
  • Integrate Backstage with existing infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Collaborate with DevOps, platform, and software engineering teams to streamline developer workflows.
  • Ensure scalability, security, and usability of the developer portal.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, and training for engineering teams adopting Backstage.
  • Contribute to Backstage open-source ecosystem (where applicable).

Profile

  • The Spotify Backstage Developer will have strong experience in TypeScript/JavaScript (React knowledge highly desirable).
  • Experience working with Spotify Backstage (building plugins, extending the framework).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and DevOps tooling.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and service catalog management is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
