Overview
In this Financial Controller role, you will lead the insourcing of finance and build the in-house team, establishing robust processes, controls, and reporting. You will own monthly and annual financial Close, cash flow planning, and audits, while shaping a technology-enabled finance function across a fast-growing retailer. The position offers broad exposure to M&A activity and a clear pathway toward future growth and a potential sale. You will partner with leadership to deliver precise insights and drive performance.

Responsibilities
- Insource all financial accounting and tax activities from outsourced provider
- Map resource needs and build in-house finance team
- Deliver monthly management accounts in line with group deadlines
- Maintain balance sheet integrity via monthly reconciliations
- Coordinate cash flow management and projections
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and legislation
- Own the annual audit and liaise with external auditors
- Lead month-end and year-end close to analyze P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts for P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Enhance FP&A reporting quality and commercial insight
- Develop and extend ERP/tech tools for better financial insight and reporting
- Collaborate with other teams to standardise processes and systems
- Support M&A activities and integration of acquisitions
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (professional qualification)
- Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
- Experience presenting to C-suite
- Ability to build and lead an in-house finance team
- Track record in financial planning, reporting, and controls
- Experience with audits and integration of acquisitions
