Robert Half Technology are assisting a telecommunications business to recruit a Senior Data Platform Engineer on a 9-month contract basis. Hybrid working – Hampshire/London based. ASAP start.
Role
- The Senior Data Platform Engineer will take full ownership of the production data platform, including ingestion, orchestration, infrastructure, and observability.
- Design, build, and deliver scalable data pipelines across CRM, ERP, and billing systems.
- Lead platform readiness activities ahead of a critical NetSuite cutover, including hypercare support.
- Build and maintain integrations across Salesforce / Ability (CRM), NetSuite / Sage X3 (ERP), and Billing / BSS platforms.
- Implement and manage Reverse ETL workflows using Hightouch.
- Manage supplier data ingestion processes via SFTP and cloud-based services.
- Ensure strong platform monitoring, alerting, reliability, and operational readiness.
- Operate as a senior individual contributor and own a core engineering workstream end-to-end.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and support BAU handover activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams to ensure successful programme delivery.
Profile
- The Senior Data Platform Engineer will have 8+ years of Data Engineering experience within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with cloud-based data warehouse technologies, ideally BigQuery, although Snowflake and Redshift experience will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience with GCP technologies including BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, and Cloud Functions.
- Strong Python development experience alongside modern ELT tooling such as Fivetran.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD tooling, including Terraform and GitHub Actions.
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability tooling such as Cloud Monitoring and PagerDuty.
- Proven experience integrating CRM, ERP, and Billing/BSS systems.
- Experience delivering critical cutover and hypercare phases within large-scale transformation programmes is essential.
- Comfortable operating as a senior IC / workstream owner with strong delivery discipline.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
Desirable
- Experience within telecommunications, MSP, or managed services environments.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tooling such as Cursor or Claude.
