Robert Half are currently partnering with a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Poole that is looking to appoint an experienced Accountant to join their team. The Accountant will receive a salary up to £55,000 plus attractive benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys managing client relationships, delivering high-quality financial support, and working within a modern, collaborative environment. The firm works with a varied portfolio of SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and entrepreneurs, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services tailored to their clients' needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients and be responsible for delivering a range of accounting and compliance services while also supporting clients with commercial and financial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
- Production of management accounts and financial reports
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and self-assessment tax returns
- Supporting clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software
- Reviewing financial records and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC requirements
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Assisting clients with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
- Contributing to process improvements and operational efficiencies within the practice
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- AAT qualified, part-qualified ACA/ACCA, or qualified by experience (QBE) candidates will all be considered
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and tax regulations
- Experience working with SME clients
- Proficient with software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines independently
