We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Privacy & Security Engineer to support the technical implementation of our clients' global privacy and data protection strategy. This role will help embed privacy-by-design principles into customer, product, and engineering processes while ensuring sensitive data is protected and handled in line with global regulatory requirements.
The successful Data Privacy & Security Engineer will work closely with Legal, Privacy, Security, Engineering, and DevOps teams to design and implement safeguards that support compliant, secure, and scalable data processing environments. Large enterprise or government background (strong DLP exposure) is desirable. This is a 2 years temp to perm, hybrid role based in London.
Key Data Privacy & Security Engineer Responsibilities:- Lead the design and rollout of data protection and privacy control frameworks.
- Define and enforce separation measures for sensitive data environments, including personal data, payment data, and intellectual property.
- Support secure data-sharing arrangements and controlled environments for privacy-preserving analysis.
- Collaborate with technical teams to implement segmentation, identity and access controls, and automated privacy safeguards.
- Help embed privacy controls into architecture, development, and deployment processes.
- Implement or support technical data protection methods such as tokenisation, hashing, pseudonymisation, and differential privacy where appropriate.
- Support governance, audit readiness, and evidence collection for internal and external reviews.
- Maintain documentation linking technical controls to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop training and guidance for technical teams on secure data handling and privacy standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in privacy engineering, data security, cloud security, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of privacy and security principles, including GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
- Experience working with cloud platforms and native identity, segmentation, or security tooling.
- Familiarity with zero trust, DLP, and secure data architecture concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPT, CIPM, CISSP, or CISM are desirable.
- Exposure to data sovereignty, data residency, or cross-border data transfer considerations.
- Experience with data platforms or orchestration tools such as Snowflake, Airflow, or Databricks.
- Knowledge of threat intelligence or broader cybersecurity monitoring is advantageous.
